My Experience with the Double Haul 100 Liter Convertible Duffel & Tote By NEMO Equipment
I have used the Double Haul 100 Liter Convertible Duffel & Tote By NEMO Equipment three times so far, and it has really simplified the way I am able to pack! For road trips and car camping, this is most certainly a clutch piece of gear!
Two of the times I used this Double Haul 100 were road trips, where I needed to stay super organized while on the road, going in and out of hotels and trying to reduce the amount of gear explosions! For these adventures, I am able to stuff a loaded up 40 liter hiking backpack, my 30 liter work bag and all the remaining gear I carry along... and then some... into the Double Haul 100. I like to use duffel-mode for this application, because the bag can zip closed and it most easy for me to carry. It's wild to be able to have everything you need for an inside/outside trip in one place!
Car camping with the Double Haul 100 Liter Convertible Duffel & Tote By NEMO is much the same! You can fit an entire car camping setup for two in this bag. Or if you're like me and prefer to be lazy, you can fit a car camping setup for one in this bag, without having to compress your sleeping bag or pack up your whole kit perfectly. I like that especially when I'm car camping somewhere different for a couple nights in a row.
The overall durability of the Double Haul seems solid. Even when loaded up fully, weighing in heavy as can be, there doesn't seem to be any pulling or stretching going on. I've scraped this duffel on cactus and cat claw, and have dragged it a bit on gravel. It still looks new, and because it's easy to wipe down, even stays shiny.
There are various straps to compress the Double Haul down, which means that it wont take up a ton of excess space. It can easily be transformed into a much smaller bag. And when not in use, it actually packs down into a little bag it comes with that is not much bigger than a laptop. That little bag, by the way, is perfect to use as a toiletries bag or doggo-things duffel.
For packing, the stiffened trusses keep the opening wide. It makes a huge difference in the packing experience! We've all dealt with floppy duffels being annoying. That's not something you'll be dealing with when you use a Double Haul. The outside of this duffel has on big zipper pocket, that is great for keeping your keys, wallet, etc. so you don't need to dig around to find them.
I also picked up this bag in the 70 liter size, and have found that to be as perfect as the 100 liter. I love how organized I stay when I'm using these. The really are a game changer if you travel to adventure and need a way to keep all your gear organized and in one place!
