ToughCutie Ladies Light Weight Merino Wool Hiker Crew Socks in action!

Hiking socks are a personal thing and it's always interesting when a new sock company comes onto the scene. In today's gear review I'm looking at the Ladies Light Weight Merino Wool Hiker Crew Socks by ToughCutie. Tough Cutie is a new company set to create phenomenal hiking socks for women, while also doing good by women. I must say that I don't completely understand the brand ethos of ToughCutie, but I was stoked to give their socks a whirl.

My history with socks is a bizarre one. I tend to really burn through socks, putting even the best of them to shame in very little time. I try to stick with Darn Tough socks, but am always stoked to try out new brands and styles as I have a very high bar to hit where socks are concerned.

My Experience with the Ladies Light Weight Merino Wool Hiker Crew Socks By ToughCutie

For three months I have been wearing these socks. I've backpacked with them, hiked with them and worn them casually around home. During my time testing them out, I have gone from loving them, to being unsure about that, to loving them and so on. So let's just dive right in.

I find these socks fit to be super tight, which I don't love. I am wearing the correct size, and the sock fits well. It's just very tight in the spots with compression. I do find the light cushion to be comfortable and I haven't had any chaffing or hot spots while hiking in these socks.

So far, these socks are holding up really well. They absolutely are starting to thin out a bit in the usual places my socks get holes. But a lesser sock worn by me would already have holes after this amount of use generally. So they are certainly a high quality sock. ToughCutie does not have a lifetime warranty on their socks, by the way, which means they will not replace socks that have failed due to wear.

The features of ToughCutie socks that make them women-specific are things like compression zones and a build that supports a higher arch.

After a backpacking trip with the Ladies Light Weight Merino Wool Hiker Crew Socks by ToughCutie I can confidently say that these socks don't get stinky. They also retain their shape and dry out pretty quick. I found them to be comfortable overall.

Some days I wear these socks around home or to do work outside. They've become a part of my regular sock rotation. But they are certainly not a favorite for me when it comes right down to it.

I don't love the tight fit and will always choose socks that have a bit more wiggle room. I'm honestly also a little put off by the brand name ToughCutie. For a company calling out the "pink it and shrink it" thing, they sure picked a dumb name. And I'll just be super honest in that I don't love their lack of a lifetime warranty. When you burn out socks like I do, that matters a ton.

Overall the Ladies Light Weight Merino Wool Hiker Crew Socks by ToughCutie are a nice, durable merino wool hiking sock for women. They hold up to adventure and they support a women-owned business.
