The world of eBikes is vast and in the past few years, electric mountain bikes have been coming onto the market. These bikes claim to be capable of a lot, and many of us have been clamoring to test them out! About a year ago I was able to get my hands on the Scout Full-Suspension eBike by Bakcou and it has been a game changer for my adventures.
The Scout Full-Suspension eBike by Bakcou is a fat tire mountain bike that is marketed towards the hunting crowd. I don't hunt, but I do get up to a vast array of gnarly shenanigans and knew I needed an e-mountain bike that could handle anything the mountains and deserts put out!

You may ask yourself why I am reviewing an eBike on a hiking site, so let me tell you! eBikes are the most amazing tool for getting to trailheads that require a kitted out 4x4, or that require super technical driving. Forget the 8-mile approach hike, forget skipping epic hikes because you don't feel confident to drive a gnarly road. With a solid e-mountain bike, you can zip right up and get your hike on!
Some days we don't feel like working out but still want to have a fun day outside. That's also where an eBike really shines. Simply put it on its easiest settings and have a nice little joyride while you stretch your legs a bit. It's great!

My Experience with the Scout Full Suspension eBike By Bakcou
When I initially got the Scout Full Suspension eBike by Bakcou I wasn't positive if it would fit me, as I usually ride small bikes. I am 5'6" and got the medium. When it was all set up, I was really happy about the fit! It is quite comfortable and I have no issues riding for many hours.
I wanted to test this eBike out right away, and the first place I took it was the Sonoran Desert. There are a lot of technical dirt road loops down in the desert and I planned out a 30-mile ride on one of them!
Riding the Scout is really fun. Whether you're using the pedal assist, full throttle or just fat biking around, this is a capable mountain bike. Since my initial rides in the desert, I've ridden it all over Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. From slick rock, to sandy washes, to mountain passes. The battery life is very reliable, and holds a charge well in all temperatures.
On one very frightening stretch of gravel road in New Mexico, I was able to really test out the throttle by putting pedal to the metal so to speak when I was chased by two dogs that were pretty clearly more aggressive than stoked to see me. I went from 10 miles per hour to nearly 27 miles per hour in basically no time, and held this speed for a solid couple of minutes. Until I knew I was in the clear from those dogs.

The Scout Full Suspension eBike by Bakcou is a bike I feel confident using in more technical terrain, as it's nimble enough to handle tight obstacles, and predictable enough to rely on. While I'm never going to be someone cycling on technical terrain with great speed, this bike has allowed me to maintain solid speeds in terrain that I might usually walk because I'd be biking too slow.

I didn't know what to expect when I first started riding the Scout Full Suspension eBike by Bakcou. But after getting a feel for it, I really do love this bike as a means of adventure and as a tool to ramp up adventure. Being able to ride it up a super technical jeep road to hit a trail I wouldn't have been able to in the past is wild. And whether I'm using the pedal assist, or going full-throttle, I can understand how the battery is going to be impacted.
The full suspension is phenomenal and absorbs most of the significant bumps and hits to the bike, allowing for a pretty smooth ride. The computer on this bike is easy to use, and while riding it's very easy to read.
If you're looking for an eBike with a powerful throttle that can handle mountain biking trails and technical terrain, be sure to consider the Scout Full Suspension eBike from Bakcou. It's a real game changer!
