My Experience with The Aspen Ultralight Backpack By Symbiosis Gear
I used this pack on a three-night backpacking trip in New Mexico, followed by two day hikes, putting it to the test on rugged terrain with long miles. Right away, I noticed how well the S-curve shoulder straps accommodates my boobs, providing a snug, secure fit that eliminates uncomfortable pressure points that tend to fall right on my nips. For anyone who has struggled with traditional backpack straps digging into their chest, this pack is a game-changer.
On the trail, The Aspen Ultralight Backpack proved itself in terms of weight distribution and overall comfort. The big stretchy pockets balanced my load evenly, and the dialed in torso fit and ultralight weight prevented the dreaded neck and shoulder strain common with more ill-fitting packs.
The 38 liter capacity was just right for my ultralight setup on my three night trip, with plenty of space for my gear while still maintaining a minimalist feel. The front stretch pocket was particularly useful. Not just for stashing quick-access items, but also as an improvised spot for my hydration bladder, since this pack isn’t designed for one. While it worked, I would love to see an integrated hydration sleeve in future versions.
Another minor downside was the lack of hipbelt pockets. On long hikes, I like having easy access to snacks, extra camera batteries and chapstick without stopping to dig through my pack. While this isn’t a dealbreaker, it’s something to consider if you prefer the convenience of built-in storage on the hipbelt. That said, the overall hipbelt design provided excellent weight transfer, helping keep my load comfortable even during long miles in the New Mexico heat. The pack’s breathable back panel helped with ventilation, making it a solid choice for warmer conditions.
Aside from those drawbacks, I genuinely loved the fit of this backpack. It’s clear that Symbiosis Gear put a lot of thought into making a comfortable, women-friendly ultralight backpack that performs well on long treks.
I don't think the small size of The Aspen will work for my long backpacking trips, but for short trips and day hikes, it's excellent!
