This guide is based off my experiences as a neurodivergent hiker, along with suggestions from my neurodiverse backpacking pals from all around the country.

For some neurodiverse people, the sensations of temperature are a tricky thing. I personally do not tend to feel if my body is too hot or too cold, which can lead to dangerous situations like hypothermia and heat stroke. When I know what temperature it is, I can layer objectively and move appropriately even if my body is telling me I'm fine to keep my down jacket on when it's 100 degrees out.
