Who We Are

SouthwestHikes.com is an outlet of passion and joy for me (the wife) and my husband; a two-member-crew based in the Southwest! Between the two of us we've got over 20 years of professional gear reviewing experience from working at a well-known outdoor gear publication. We really love gear, we really love adventure and we really love the Southwest!

Stewardship is very important to us, so on top of gear reviews and gear news, we'll share tips and information on good stewardship practices. Of course we'll also share expert advice on adventure, but we always take an approach that puts stewardship in the forefront of all we do.

Wife: passions include wildlife, backpacking, hiking and true crime podcasts.
Professions outside of gear reviewing include: conservation photography and outdoor writing.
Favorite places on earth: San Juan Mountains and the Sonoran Desert. Also the Painted Desert. Also Northern New Mexico.

Husband: passions include backpacking, biking, gear of all variety and reading.
Professions outside of gear reviewing include: videgraphy, audio recording and entrepreneurship.
Favorite places on earth: San Juan Mountains, Sonoran Desert, Canyon Country- Grand Canyon, Canyonlands, Moab. True canyonman.

Sometimes we'll have friends write gear reviews, and sometimes we might have an expert in outdoor things swing by to write an article. And of course we invite all of you to submit your hiker story! At the end of the day our big dream is for Southwest Hikes to be a community of cool people having cool experiences and sharing them.
